Tuesday, January 5 - Reflection
For the remainder of the year, we will submit fifteen minutes of reflective writing each class day on that day's class(es). Today, we created groups, chose pictures and began planning and scripting devised picture scenes. Please submit your reflection as a comment here.

REFLECTION - Sara Welander
ReplyDeleteIn my group (me, evelina and sam) we chose picture 53 showing a young woman and a sailor talking to each other, the sailor leaning on a brick wall of a building where above them there is a window of some old men looking at the two. To us it looks like the sailor is flirting with the girl. For our picture scene we didn't change much which is in the picture but except that there is only one old woman sitting by the window looking at them.
The plot of our picture scene is that the guy sees the girl across the street and then walks toward her and starts flirting. We dont know yet if the girl should be posh but we do know that she is a bit of a snob. While they're having a conversation the old woman sees them and starts babbling to herself how disgusting kids are these days. Later on in the scene she actually gets out onto the street to tell them off.
The conflict of our small story is if the girl should listen to the handsome sailor or to the old lady if she should go out with him or not. In this scene i will play the old lady, Evelina plays the sailor and Sam plays the girl.
In todays double lesson we have gotten pretty far in writing the script, and have a kind of good overview of how this scene is going to turn out. We improvised a few times during class and it went pretty well. We worked a lot with characterisation of all our characters like how we walk, how we talk, how we move etc. The girl will be all sweet but also a bit of a snob, the sailor will walk with big arms trying to show off his muscles, and the old lady will have a walking stick and will walk with a slouched back. We have also thought a bit of costumes, but not so much. We know that the girl will have a nice dress, the sailor will have a sailors hat and just guy clothes on and the old lady probably just a long skirt and a long sleeved shirt with boring gray/white colours.

ReplyDeleteDrama class Jounal
Today was the first class starting from the christmas holidays, and we started to be doing a group project based on a picture we chose from the album our well prepared teacher gave us a link to(to be honest, FINALLY!!!, we are doing somehting new and fresh, because previous work was really slow and boring).
First of all we picked the teams by random letters(A,B,C,D), and since Sara, Sam and me picked letter "B", all of us were in one group. Iam really happy to be working with these people because I know that you can rely on them and they are fun and easy to work with.
From about ninety pictures, we chose the one of a guy, who probably a sailor, trying to flirt with a girl, and some people looking at them from the window of the house they are standing nearby. I think we chose it because it might be a fun, and not so hard little play we can make, because the idea id pretty simple.
We decided that Sam is going to be this naive girl, I will be a hot sailor and Sara is going to an old lady with unattractive to me name(Debra).
So the story so far goes well, though we disagree a bit on the ending, I think that a girl should listen to the sailor and go with him, not the old lady, whereas Sara thinks that Sam should stay with the old lady, and im not sure what Sam thinks so far.
In whole I enjoyed today's class, and hope that we will go through this play really quickly because when you work on one thing for too long it becomes boring and you don't want to work on it, and now i am really desperate to see what is going to be the result.

Drama class journal
ReplyDeleteToday was the first drama class and we had to choose a picture from grade 10 blog
But first we had to pick a random letter (A, B, C, D) and I choose A!!!!!
So I found out that mike and Luke are in my group. I didn’t and now I like it a little
That they were in my group not because of the people but I want that there is a girl in my group
(Because I was the only girl and the other girls had a group with other girls... I know that
It is nothing but still...)
So I didn’t like the drama lesson :(
We had to pick from the blog a picture out of 90 it was quit boring pictures!
But we choose one and it was a picture with a guard and two people close by a painting
Talking together.
So we were thinking and writing in big lines how it should be.
Mike was like from the beginning saying that he wanted to be a guard so we Luke and I
Are the robbers. And it was quit cool and funny because Luke said that we had
To jump out of a window when it was night to steal the painting ha-ha so we jumped
From a small table and mike was sleeping!!
And then we went to write what else
And then it was that we began to think and act how it should be we didn’t had any lines.
But we just did like in the afternoon we came looking at the painting and talking about
How we should steal it but the guard (mike) was listening what we were saying.
And he began to be suspicious and we were talking about what is costing the most!
We don’t have a good ending yet and we don’t have a lot to play but, We are working on it and I think when everybody accept that this is how we are
Going to do it and that we have to do it with the people who we have in our
Group I hope it is going to be not so long! Because than it gets boring!

5th January 2010 -
ReplyDeleteToday we were split up into 4 groups of 3 and were asked to find a picture that
we could then make a script out of.
I got paired up with Evelina and Sara which im really happy about
since there both very hard workers. We began the first part of the script and it seemed to go well.
Our
picture is of a sailor, who looks asif he is trying to chat up a women and some old people above them looking down
with curiosity.
Sara is the old women who warns me the young girl about the sailor who is played by evelina.

ReplyDeleteToday, we found out about our groups for this project. Our task is to create a short performance from a picture in groups of three. I was pared up with Annie-Mieke and Mike.
We had a choice of 89 pictures but found it difficult to choose a picture as we didn't think that we would be able to make a story out of it. However, we eventually found a picture of 2 people in a gallery with a painting. Annie-Mieke and I thought that it would be interesting if we were the 2 people in the picture as robbers. Mike could then be the security guard.
The group then put a basic bullet-pointed summary of our story. We then tried some improvisation. This gave us the opportunity to see how the performance could be played out. With this in mind we began editing parts especially towards the end as we thought that a more dramatic ending would fit nicer.
