Today we viewed our scene from Death of a Salesman as played in 1966 by Lee J. Cobb, spoke about characters' actions and compared the two filmed versions of the scene before working with the scene in small groups. Please submit your reflection here.

In todays lesson we have watched the movie of death of a salesmen and compared the differences and similarities between each movie.
ReplyDeleteLater we have gone through our scenes and performed for each other. After performing them for eachother and getting to know better the idea of the scene to know how to act it and so on, we have voted for Siri and Mike to perform for the class.
Siri was acting as Willy and Mike was being Howard. It was a very nice and enjoyable lesson. it was very interesting and we are suppost to know our lines by the time we come back.
I have been revising my monologue and its coming well enough.
REFLECTION!!
ReplyDeleteToday we saw the same scene of death of a salesman but from another movie. This one was from 1965 something and didn't use all the lines like the other movie. Also, Howard was more mean, ignorant, and busy during this one than the other one where he was more sympathetic. Willie was also more old mannish in this one, and he zones out into another world while in the other Willie he just wanted Howard to listen to him, desperately.
After we discussed the movie we continued on working on our lines. Me and Evelina just read through the whole script working on our tone of voice and trying to do it fast and smoothly like in the scene. There is a lot else we need to think about like props, costumes and blocking but for now we're taking it step by step.
Before the end of the lesson we voted for 2 others to do the scene. We chose Siri and Mike. Siri as Willie and Mike as howard. They acted very well with good tones in their voices, especially Siri who sounded like she was taking control of the scene, but Mike just blocked it out like he was supposed to do. It was all very we-ll acted for a good time. CONGRATS YOU GUYS!!!

ReplyDeleteIn today’s lesson we watched a different version of our Howard & Willy scene. It was very different , but I prefered the first one. To be honest the first one had better blocking and actions. In my groups we have to work on our blocking, right now we are just reading through our scenes and lines because it is hard because there are two Howards. After the movie we re-read our lines again and went through them , then Mike & Myself performed our characters. I like it when we chose random characters to work together because it gives you something very different to do and you get to work with other people. I was happy to hear all the nice comments though , I am really happy with my character and this scene.

ReplyDeleteToday our drama class was awesome because of the fact that we watched a movie and got to act it out. We watched another version of Death of The Salesman. Oh yeah i forgot, after we watched the movie we also discussed it and we saw the similarities and differences of the two. Also we saw what actions both Howard and Willy were making in the play whilst the other person was talking. Some were the same some were very different, like the fact that Howard in the first one was just sitting reading and writing notes and in the second he was playing mini golf. It was very interesting to watch. It was really fun as we had watched another different scene a few days before and now we got to act out the scene how we feel it would work out best.
I was with Luke for acting out the death of the salesman as we were pairs and we think we did a really good job as we went through it once really well.
After we did this 2 of our drama group members were picked to do the part of Willy and Howard. Mike was picked to be Howard and Siri volunteered to be Willy. They both acted very well as Mike was trying to be controled but he didnt let it happen and Siri didnt manage to control him in the play. It was really good. I hope we all improve as they did and do well next time... :P
so, in today's lesson we started off as watching an older version of the Death Of The Salesman. I really enjoyed this movie. I think that both versions of the movie are very good. i tried to focus on Willy, just to see how
ReplyDeleteI can play him. I am looking forward to play Willy, i think i will succeed in it because I am a very emotional and easily angered person. Of couse i think i won't be so professional as those characters in the movie because the are well know acters. i really disliked Howard, because he seems like a negative kind of character, he fires an old man which is in need of money, and i think it's a very bad think to do. Also, i dislike the way he speaks to Willy, he refers to him as kid and saying something like this is very, very impolite think to do.
for the next lesson i will need to start learning my lines, and i already know my monologue lines. thank you for this lesson.

ReplyDeleteanyways, today during class we watched another Death of a Salesman scene. I didnt really like this one, i prefered the other one.. as i thought the other one had better acting, and seemed to fit the scene more.
We then went on to choose 2 people to play the scene, and we choose Mike and Siri. They only performed a small peace of it, but it was going well. They both went into charecter straight away which was good, and they worked well together ! So well done guys :)

ReplyDeleteTodays lesson we saw the movie Death of a salesman with other characters but actually i prefered the other one because the other one does more this one was like staying on his place! which wasnt that interesting. So we were talking/discussing about that.
Later we rehearsed it again we just read it and im going to learn and understand my lines but it is aloooot and that is driving me crazy but okay....
then Mike and Siri played the scene and they performed it good, Siri putted a lot of emotion in her lines and that was really cool to see, also mike was doing it good! Nice work!!!

Today we viewed our scene from Death of a Salesman as played in 1966. Then we compared it with the one we wached las time. I liked the one we wached last time more.
ReplyDeleteAfter every one went with his prtner and did the scene atleast once.Then we had to choose who to be Willy and who to be Haword or watever his name is :d. We couse for Willy SIRI and for Haword Mike.
Thats basically what we did today. )
